Welcome to Curé of Ars Catholic Church

I am very happy to provide you with a newly updated parish website. Hopefully you will find our site helpful in becoming better acquainted with our parish and its ministries.  Our parish mission is to continue the mission of Jesus as a faith community centered on the Eucharist, living the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and helping to build the Kingdom of God.

Image At Curé of Ars we have five guiding values; worship, evangelization, service, stewardship, and community.

Worship - To enhance the celebration of God’s presence in our lives through the liturgical and sacramental life of the Church.  To be a welcoming community inviting all to join in our celebration and to deepen the personal faith of each member of our parish family.

Evangelization - To strengthen and enrich the Catholic faith life of our parish community, including inactive Catholics.  To share the light of Christ by reaching out to our unchurched neighbors and to bring the Gospel more fully into our world.Image

Service - To share our gifts and talents within the parish community and beyond, serving the spiritual and physical needs of others.

Stewardship - To be faithful stewards of our time, talent and treasure for the sake of the Kingdom of God.

Community - To provide opportunities to gather as a spirit-filled parish family, to foster a sense of hospitality and belonging…and to have fun.

I hope you will become better acquainted with our parish.  You are most welcome, and if I or any of our parish staff can assist you, please let us know.  May the Lord Jesus bless you richly.

Sincerely,

Msgr. Charles D. McGlinn

New Mass Translations Are Coming

The Holy See has approved the Third Edition of the Roman Missal. The USCCB has a dedicated a website to help the faithful prepare for the coming changes.  http://usccb.org/romanmissal

Pope John Paul II announced a revised version of the Missale Romanum during the Jubilee Year 2000. Among other things, the revised edition of the Missale Romanum contains prayers for the observances of recently canonized saints, additional prefaces for the Eucharistic Prayers, additional Votive Masses and Masses and Prayers for Various Needs and Intentions, and some updated and revised rubrics (instructions) for the celebration of the Mass. The English translation of the Roman Missal will also include updated translations of existing prayers, including some of the well–known responses and acclamations of the people.  Examples of the coming changes can be found here http://usccb.org/romanmissal/examples.shtml

Pilgrimage to the Holy Land

What is this I hear about Fr. Greg going on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land?

Yes, it is true!  I’m going on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, and there is room available for you too (maybe 20 spots or so left).  Personally, I am very excited as I have never been to Israel before, but have always wanted to go.  This is a great opportunity!  Mike Scherschligt, director of the School of Faith in our diocese, Fr. Rick Storey, Fr. Pat Sullivan, and myself will all be along to guide and make it a very spiritual experience as we visit the places Our Lord Jesus lived in and walked.  How exciting!

The trip is January 15-26, 2011.  It is $3099.00 per person including airfare from Kansas City, breakfast and dinner daily, airport transfers, tours, entrance fees as noted on itinerary, and all taxes. Not included: Cancellation Waiver/Trip Insurance $200 per person and gratuities for meals, guides, bus driver.  Call Trudy or Marsha @ 913-422-4141 Trinity Travel to sign up or ask questions.

I highly encourage you to prayerfully consider if the Lord is calling you to this pilgrimage.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

-Fr. Greg
